Xray
The "sensation" of the 2004 Adelaide Fringe comes
to Darwin.
29 year old Australian David Hicks has been held in Guantanamo
Bay, Cuba for more than 1,270 days (to June 2005) without trial.
For most of that time he was held without charge, without a lawyer,
without contact with his family.
Xray represents a day in the life of a man claimed to be
"one of the most dangerous men on earth." The play
looks at the isolation, the frustration and the building relationship
with the only person he has any human contact with - the guard
stationed to watch his every move.
Written with the help of his Adelaide family and his Australian
lawyer and told with a surprising amount of humour, Xray presents
the audience with the reality of America's War on Terror.
"Powerfully factual and understated"
Murray Bramwell, The Australian.
