Join Harsel & Paryvn Singh and learn some of the moves
that you see in Bollywood movies. Bhangra music from Punjab
(NW India & Pakistan) is a great favourite of the Indian
Film industry and from its humble origins as a harvest folk
dance has taken its place as the major influence in Indian
dance. Energetic, graceful but easy to follow moves. Great
for both guys and girls.

at honouring and celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Indonesian
Independence and to advance and strengthen the Australia -
Indonesia relationship and links with the Northern Territory.
Topics will include arts and culture cooperation, relationship
strengthening activities, infrastructure, investment and financial
development as well as technology cooperation and services
sector opportunities and cooperation.

COMPOSING MUSIC FOR DOCUMENTARIES
Jan Preston
Jan Preston is recognised as one of Australia's leading female
screen composers. Jan began writing music for theatre and
dance in the late 1970s, and was led into film via a documentary
for NZ actor, Sam Neil. Thus began a love affair with the
screen which has resulted in her scoring for hundreds of documentaries
and 7 feature films. Her current project is composing for
the third 6 part AUSTRALIAN DYNASTIES Series for ABC TV. She
also loves to compose live music for silent films and has
performed 12 of these in Sydney for the National Film and
Sound Archive, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Sydney Film
Festival.
Jan has won 3 awards for her film scores, one being Best
Music In A Documentary for the film AN IMAGINARY LIFE. Her
most unusual film employment was giving Jane Campion piano
lessons in her research for THE PIANO, and she was screen
composition lecturer at the AFTRS from 1997 to 1999. Jan Preston
is also a blues singer, songwriter and piano player and plays
festivals and shows throughout Australia, New Zealand and
the UK.

MUSIC NT WORKSHOPS
Music NT presents a series of professional skills development
workshops as part of the NT Music Festival program. Workshops
are designed to empower and enable NT contemporary original
musicians to obtain knowledge of where the music industry
is heading and to make valuable contacts with music industry
professionals.
Workshops will include the The Indie Special - presented
by APRA and will focus on the independent music sector. A
panel of special guests will speak about the opportunities
and advantages of going down the independent route and the
challenges that face independent songwriters, composers and
artists. Special guests will include Philip Mortlock, Managing
Director Origin Network and Sebastian Chase, Managing Director
MGM and others.

AUSTRALIAN DANCE THEATRE WORKSHOPS
Introduction to Contemporary Dance Workshop
A high energy workshop for drama and dance students of all
ages with limited experience, and physical education and drama
teachers. Fun but challenging physical dance experience incorporating
contemporary technique, yoga, breakdance and some more gymnastic
style moves. 20 people per workshop.
