Paintings by Micheline Lee

This exhibition of paintings by Micheline Lee will include works from her recent solo shows in Berlin and Paris sponsored by the Australia Council for the Arts and the Freie Universitat in Berlin.

In a melding of fairytale and stark reality, Micheline tells tales of love across the divide and the yearning to belong. Speaking of her recent Berlin exhibition, Professor West-Pavlov of the Freie Universitat Berlin said that "It seems to me appropriate that her paintings, which embody, in their very materiality, the business of talking across borders, are exhibited in the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, a venue which possesses a long tradition for welcoming artists from various cultures."

This is if anything more true of exhibiting these works where they were painted, in the multicultural melting-pot of Darwin itself.
