George Rrurrambu & Birdwave

One of the "standout" performances at Womadelaide 2005 and Womad New Zealand 2005 is coming to the Darwin Festival. The pioneer of Aboriginal rock music, George Rrurrambu from North East Arnhem Land, together with four piece instrumental band Birdwave will rock the Darwin Festival Star Shell. The collaboration between George Rrurrambu and Birdwave is rooted in both the traditional knowledge and songs of George's people and the traditional sounds of blues, funk and reggae.

Support act, Bininj (The Backstreet Boys of Arnhemland), an exciting new band from Croker Island, has been performing in local communities for over 5 years and is soon to release their debut album. Don’t miss this exciting new band from Arnhem Land.
