Dubu
Presented by the NT Cultural Village, featuring Drum Drum
and the Arafura Ensemble.
A dynamic performance bringing ancient cultures and traditions
to life.
This lively and energetic performance will focus around a Dubu,
a traditional ceremonial platform from Motuan villages in Papua
New Guinea.
The Dubu was the focus for rituals and ceremonies, where many different
clans would come together to celebrate a bountiful harvest or the
betrothal of the Chief's son. Using an impressive re-creation of
a traditional Dubu, the NT Cultural Village will amaze audiences
with the colour, energy and lively performances by groups from PNG,
Indonesia, Thailand, Samoa, Kiribati and other cultures, together
with the classical Arafura Ensemble.
This interactive celebration will feature exciting traditional
dances, pulsating drumming, lively music, and ceremonies, bringing
together many diverse people of Darwin to celebrate their cultures
and traditions.
