Urban Village Cultured Beats

Presented by The Cultural Village of the Northern Territory in association with the Darwin Festival.

Over 50 performers tell the story from the URBAN VILLAGE, a story about Creation – FIRE, Place – EARTH, Challenge – WIND and Journey – WATER.

Urban Village Cultured Beats features some of the Northern Territory’s leading Indigenous musicians, producers, and DJs in collaboration with contemporary and traditional world musicians and dancers.

Their performances at the Star Shell from Aug 19 – 21 include:
- Samoan Fire Dancers
- Indigenous singer songwriter Paul Djolpa McKenzie from Maningrida and lead singer of the Wild Water Band
- A massive drum battle with special guests from Sri Lanka and Darwin group

- Special guest DJs
- A massive dance battle
- Musicians and dancers from Kiribati, Indonesia, East Timor, and the Torres Strait Islands.

Following the Urban Village performance, the Cultural Village of the Northern Territory will host the Festival Club, with Global Beats, Hip hop, Dub, Reggae, Ska and some of the hottest local live bands.
