GALUKU GALLERY
For three years in a row, the artists of Yirrkala (800kms East
of Darwin) have hung their limited edition screenprints in a “bush
gallery” with no ceiling or walls, at the Garma Festival.
Now, the artists of Yirrkala bring this unique concept to tropical
Darwin, with “Galuku Gallery” meaning “Palm Tree
Gallery”.
Their framed prints will hang in the palm trees of the Botanic
Gardens and will be illuminated at night to create a remarkable
sight. The Galuku Gallery will run throughout the Festival, and
the prints, produced by Indigenous printmakers at the Yirrkala Print
Shop, will be for sale onsite.
