*Please note revised session times below*
Big Screen returns to Darwin for its 4th big year to present a
dense and diverse program of new and archival Australian films from
those yet to be released to some of our most loved.
This year we’re including a special encore screening of the
contemporary Australian classic Bad Boy Bubby including a not to
be missed “In Conversation With Director Rolf de Heer”
on a corker double bill with the 70s Aussie gem, The Club.
We also feature the widely acclaimed new feature The Finished People
screening with the Oscar winning Harvie Krumpet, as well as Colin
Friels’ welcome return to the big screen with a powerhouse
              performance in Tom White.
We hope you enjoy this year’s celebration of Australian cinema!

Big Screen guest and one of Australia’s most highly regarded
filmmakers, Rolf de Heer, here creates a work quite unlike anything
produced in Australia (or anywhere else!) in one of the most well
known Australian films of the last decade (and a bit). Locked in
a bare concrete room for most of his life by his mother, Bubby is
about to make his mark on the world in what can only be described
as the most strange of Cinderella-esque stories.
            The Club
              M I 96 mins I Dir: Bruce Beresford 1980
Along with Don’s Party, The Club is one of Australia’s
most well known and best loved cinematic classics. Based on the
play by David Williamson, The Club is about the rise of a struggling
football club in Melbourne. The combination of behind-the-scenes
internal politicking in the boardroom and the actual football footage
creates a riotous and wildly satirical look at Australian sporting
              culture.

              man in his own city.
